Dear Parents,
Welcome back to another fun half term at The Exwick Ark. A special welcome to Daisy, Natalia, Xenia, Millie, Regan, Chelsea and Ebony who will be joining us this half term.
The topic this half term is water so we have lots of wet activities planned! We will try and keep children as dry as possible but please keep a change of clothing on their peg. We have planned a number of water related outings. As always we would welcome as many parent helpers as possible for these trips. Please see the back of this letter for dates.
Hot lunches start this half term. We have had a great response from parents and are anticipating that the majority of children will now be having a cooked lunch at a bargain price of only £1.20. This is cheaper and more convenient than most packed lunches and will allow children to practice the social skills of eating a cooked meal together. The menu is available in the parent area. You will be invoiced a month in arrears for the lunches your child takes up. We will be providing feedback to you on how much your child has eaten on a white board in the parent area.
As you are probably aware, Devon is moving to a “single offer point” for school entry, from September 2011. This means parents will now be able to choose whether their child starts school in September, January or April. This replaces the old system where children either started in September or January depending on where their birthday fell. I am aware that some parents are still deciding whether they would like their child to start school in September or stay with us a bit longer. It would be really helpful for our planning if you can let us know if you will need a place with us for your child as soon as possible as places for September are starting to fill up rapidly.
As the summer heats up it really helps us if you can apply sun cream before leaving your child. We will then reapply regularly through out the day using our sun cream if you have signed the consent sheet or your own if you would prefer.
Our parent consultation meetings will take place on Wednesday 6th July from 4- 6.00pm. Please sign up for an appointment with your child’s family worker. On this evening we will also have a display about Well being and Involvement scales, this is a method of measuring children’s well being and involvement in the pre-school setting.
We are running low on our stocks of boys trousers and pants, if you have any that your child has grown out of please consider donating them. We could also do with more welly boots sizes 8+
