This week we will be continuing our theme of all the colours of the rainbow and we will be looking at the Christmas story and dressing up for the photo's for the nativity.
In the Giraffe room we will be making Christingles, Christmas cards, Christmas angels and away in a manger arts and crafts. We will have a Christmas obstacle run outside in the garden for the children to join in with if they want to. We will also be reading the Christmas story and using puppets and props to act the story out.
In the monkey room we will be reading the Christmas story with the children and dressing up as characters to take photos for the nativity. We will also be making Christmas cards using our feet and salt dough Christmas decorations. Also we will be listening to Christmas songs from around the world.
This week we will be continuing our theme of all the colours of the rainbow by looking at Christmas around the world.
In the Giraffe room we will be looking at different Christmas traditions from Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy and England. This will include cooking, arts and crafts and songs. Also on Wednesday we will be putting up our Christmas tree and the children will help decorate the tree and the room.
In the Monkey room we will also be looking at different Christmas traditions from around the world. We will be doing some cooking, listening to songs and looking at pictures of Christmas in different countries. Also we will be making a Advent calendar.
This week we will be continuing our theme of all the colours of the rainbow by looking at Christmas lights and colours.
In the Giraffe room we will be using our fingers to make Christmas lights using paint. We will also be looking at Christmas light and colours from around the world to see how they celebrate this time of year. During the week we will also be using the Christmas story in our role play area, so the children can pretend to be Mary riding on the donkey or the angels.
In the monkey room we will also be looking at Christmas lights and colours. We will be creating a sensory/dark room with different lights and mirrors for the children to explore. Also we will be painting pine cones and making Christmas lights using our fingers and hands. We will also be making Christmas candles. During the week we will also be sharing the Christmas story with the children.

In the Giraffe room we will be painting fireworks and drawing fireworks on the playground floor with chalks. We will also be using scarves to do firework dancing and listening to firework noises on the computer. We will be making and decorating firework cookies.
In the monkey room we will also be looking at bonfire/firework night. We will be exploring paint with our hands and feet to create fireworks and bonfires. We will be playing with the sensory bottles to listen to the different sounds the objects make that are inside. We will also be cooking and decorating firework biscuits.
Welcome back to another term at The Exwick Ark. This term we will be looking at the theme of all the colours of the rainbows.
In the Giraffe room we will be building a large rainbow to display in the room. We will also be doing lots of arts and crafts such as, splatter painting and making rainbows.
In the monkey room we will also be looking at the theme of all the colours in the rainbow. We will be exploring shaving foam with different food colouring in and painting a giant rainbow with our hands and feet. Also we will be playing with some sensory rainbow rice, and making rainbows from different materials such as: tissue paper, glitter, glue and paint.
This week we will be continuing our theme of our local area and will be looking at different transport. During the week we will be taking trips to St David's station to watch the trains.
In the giraffe room we will be doing lots of different transport games in the garden using the bikes and scooters. We will also be using traffic lights and drawing zebra crossing on the floor to help us learn about crossing the road safely. We will be cooking some traffic light biscuits and decorating them. On Friday we will have our sharing assembly of everything we have been learning about during the term at 9.30am. All parents and carers are welcome.
In the monkey we will be collecting autumn leaves in the garden to use them during the week in different activities. We will also be looking at Thomas the Tank engine books and talking about feelings. Also we will be exploring paint using our hands and feet to make an autumn collage.
This week we will be continuing our theme of our local area and we will learning about the River Exe and the flood relief.
In the giraffe room we will be making a range of arts and crafts such as: a river collage, boats, and rainbows, using a range of materials. We will also be taking a trip along the flood relief to the Millers Crossing and reading the Noah's Ark story to learn about the flood that happened in this story.
In the monkey room we will be using our toddler talk cards to help the children increase their language. We will also be doing some foot print painting, moving and dancing to music and exploring treasure baskets and
Yesterday the children at the Ark at Steiner Academy celebrated Michaelmas. The children dressed in purple and made purple crowns. Our parent craft group had made each of the children a beautiful felt dragon star which was hidden in their baskets. The children were so excited to find them and then went and played with them in our garden.
